History of Our Facility

The initial concept of a care facility was conceived by the Colfax Civic Club in 1961 and made a reality with overwhelming support from the community in 1966.

The original facility consisted of 37 beds and through the first ten years of operation grew to serve 97 residents. The facility is currently licensed to serve 69 patients and also houses a medical clinic that serves our residents and the community at large.

Over the years Area Nursing Home has earned an outstanding reputation for providing quality care and personalized services not only to the resident but to their families as well. We are an industry leader in providing programs and services to those suffering from Alzheimer's and other related dementias.

In 2007 the organization received certification to provide services to Medicare recipients. This expanded our ability to meet the needs of local residents served under the Medicare program. The organization changed its name Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center in 2008 to better reflect the types of services being provided.

Today our services include Short term rehabilitation, Inpatient and outpatient therapies Certified wound care specialist, registered Dietician, Restorative nursing services, daily recreation activities and programs and Reflexology.

The leadership of the organization has remained local throughout its history. The board of directors continues to consist of concerned and involved community members who have remained true to the original founding vision:  Provide care and employment to the people of Colfax and the surrounding communities.
